Non-Runner Rule

  1. Non-Runner Adjustments: If one of the horses in the market doesn’t start it’s considered to be a non-runner while all other horses’ odds remain the same except for the adjustment factor applied to them that depends upon their chances of winning when reduced by horse being declared non-runner.
  2. Reduction Factors: We may assign updated reduction factors per our discretion especially prior to commencement of events, which can be found on our website or alternatively you can call Helpdesk at any time if you need help with these factors. These factors may be changed at any time before or even after the event begins, so long as they still apply to non-runners accurately.
  3. Application of Reduction Factors: Accurate reduction factors are applied when there is a non-runner. Even after the race we maintain ongoing product development and therefore reserve our right to alter or adjust these factors throughout their lifecycle at our discretion without notice.
  4. Australian Racing: We occasionally update reduction factors for Australian races but only in special cases following departure from distance off time frame.
  5. Win & Place Markets: Both win and place markets have reductions; however different calculation criteria applies for each horse whose reduction factor may vary across markets.
  6. Handling Non-Runners: A confirmation that particular runner is not participating in the race causes all matched bets to be voided and it is removed from a market. For example, in the win market when non-runner’s reduction factor exceeds 2,5%, prices of all remaining matched bets are reduced by the value of that horse’s reduction factor. If the factor is below this threshold, no adjustments are made.
  7. Place Market Adjustments: Reduction factors for all non-runners even where they are less than 2.5% as far as place market is considered; if there’re Unmatched lay bets equal to or more than 4.0% factor value then they will be canceled.
  8. Adjusted Chances: We adjust the reduction factors so that horses’ chances can improve.
  9. In-Play Bets: Reduction factors do not apply to in-play bet unless the market has been accidentally turned in-play. In case a non-runner is scratched after the race then only pre-race bets will be subject to a reduction factor.
  10. Reinstating Non-Runners: A non-runner may be reintroduced if it was mistakenly removed or due to incorrect information and any associated bets on such runner shall stand. All those bets placed while it was withdrawn will become void.
  11. Order of Non-Runners: Non-runners will come out one after another as we receive notifications about them. If more than one non-runner is announced at once, then they are eliminated according to their occurrence in a race card.
  12. Missing Runners: Any omission of a running horse from this market due to an error may result into its inclusion before settlement occurs; however should this missing runner have considerable effect on betting outcomes entire pool formation becomes null and void with subsequent reformation if possible
  13. Applying Reductions: In the win market, reductions are made to the traded price based on the non-runner’s reduction factor. This may be further reduced if another horse is declared a non-runner.
  14. EW Market: Reductions are applied to win prices traded and this in turn influences place terms. In the place market, only potential winnings are reduced.
  15. Further Reductions: Traded prices may be further reduced if other non-runners occur, but they cannot go below 1.01 odds.
  16. Reserve Runners: Reserve runners may have no applicable reduction factor until confirmed as a starter in markets. If they become non-runners, relevant reductions will apply.
  17. Reserve & Non-Runner: The non-runner’s reduction factor is applied before he or she is removed from any market where a reserve replaces them. This also holds true if the reserve becomes a non-runner.
  18. Additional Rules: Card numbers are for reference; bets are on named horses. Horses running only for purse money are treated as non-runners for betting purposes. If the number of possible winners equals or exceeds the runners in the market, all bets are void.
